COME ON IN

A society for curated reading retreats that fit into your life, from a few quiet hours in the city to a few days somewhere beautiful. Starting in Seattle and expanding soon.

WHY READ & RETREAT SOCIETY?

Reading is better with company, even when nobody's saying a word.

There's something different about turning pages in a room full of people doing the same thing. The company, minus the small talk. The comfort of not being the only one who canceled plans for a book. That's what Read & Retreat Society gives you: the kind of quiet, shared energy that reading alone at home just can't replicate.

This isn't a book club. There's no assigned title or genre, no discussion questions, no obligation to finish, no pressure to have an opinion ready. Come in with whatever you're currently obsessed with — a thriller, a slow-burn romance, a memoir you've been chipping away at for months. Read at your own pace, your own volume of engagement, your own way.

What you'll find instead: a warm, lived-in room built for exactly this. A glass of something good within reach. The particular hush that happens when a group of strangers quietly agree to just be still with their books for a while.

We handle the rest — the setting, the snacks, the wine, the ambiance you'd never quite manage to build for yourself on a random Tuesday night. All you have to do is show up and get lost in your story.

And when you're ready for more than a night, a few days away somewhere worth reading in is on the table, too. Same energy, just more room to breathe.

CHOOSE YOUR RETREAT

However much reading time you can carve out, there's a retreat for that: from an hour with a wine flight to a few days somewhere worth the trip.

Every format shares the same core: you bring a book, we provide the vibe for silent reading. Choose whichever fits your social energy, your schedule, and your budget — not the other way around.

You don't need a favorite genre, a book club membership, or a travel companion. Come solo (a good number of us do), or bring a friend or a small group who all read different things and will happily get lost in a good book right alongside you.

our society members…

  • Buy books faster than you finish them.

  • Miss the feeling of a room full of people quietly doing the same thing.

  • Want a night out that isn't loud, or a trip that doesn't ask you to perform relaxation on someone else's itinerary.

You don't need a book club, a matching genre, or a plus-one. Come alone, or bring someone. Either way, you're allowed to just read.
